Inhabited and comfortable, it is distinguished by its rare and unique Anglo-French architecture, as well as its carefully preserved historical character. Here, the tranquility of nature, the authenticity of the place, and the freedom to discover French life at one's own pace come together naturally.
The castle is situated in the heart of a three-hectare private park, planted with century-old cedars and oaks, in an area benefiting from the prestigious " "Healthy land" . This "healthy land" label is awarded to the most preserved French regions, recognized for the purity of their natural environment and the conservation of their landscapes.
In the immediate vicinity of the castle terrace is a heated outdoor swimming pool, delicately surrounded by thuja trees and rose bushes; for children, a lawn dedicated to games and antique swings are also available.
Despite an impression of total tranquility, Château Picol is located only one kilometer from the center of the small town of Lencloître, with its town hall from the time of Napoleon III, its 12th century church, the rose garden of a former monastery, as well as bakeries and local shops.
Château Picol combines the character of an authentic historic castle with a high level of comfort, officially recognized by the French classification system, for a peaceful and truly memorable stay.
In 2023, Chateau Picol was awarded with the Grand Prix in the category "Tourism and Heritage".
The park of Château Picol
In the vast old park of the Château Picol estate, with its shaded paths, open clearings and silence, one naturally perceives the depth of time and the peaceful rhythm of nature.
On this enclosed plot of land, shielded from outside view, with an area of 3 hectares : grows a wide variety of species, many of which have more 130 yearsMajestic oaks and cedars stand alongside chestnut trees and magnolias, junipers and acacias with delicate scents.
The park is home to squirrels and hedgehogs; jays and woodpeckers roam the foliage, and in spring hoopoes appear, coming from Africa.
Under the roof of the castle's high tower lives an owl, a true inhabitant of the place, whose tranquility we carefully protect.
In the morning, it is not uncommon to see deer walking almost at the foot of the castle walls, while small lizards cross the sun-warmed terraces.
Protected insect species, such as the stag beetle and the praying mantis, can sometimes be observed there. They are only found where nature has retained its calm and continuity, and spotting them is always a fortunate encounter.
The Château Picol swimming pool
We pay respectful attention to all the inhabitants of this place, allowing the park to remain a living and natural space, as it has been for over a century and a half.
The Château Picol swimming pool is located in the immediate vicinity of the terrace and blends naturally into the life of the house and garden.
Its dimensions: 4,5 × 8 meters, allow for both leisurely swimming and sharing moments by the water with family. The gradual depth, of 1,20 to 1,60 metersensures comfortable bathing for guests of all ages.
The swimming pool is heated from May to the end of SeptemberThis makes it pleasant to use at both the beginning and end of the season. The water temperature is maintained around 28 ° C, at a comfortable level for both children and adults.
Surrounded by thuja trees and rose bushes, bathed in light and calm, the swimming pool remains an intimate space for summer days, a place to rest between walks, excursions and returns to the castle at the end of the day.
